A rollback changes only which release serves the site: the releases are already on the server, so it is immediate. The database and uploaded files do not change: for those you need a restore.
Go back to the previous release
- Open the site and choose the Releases tab.
- Press Instant rollback and confirm.
The site goes back to the release that was live just before the current one. The current one becomes rolled back, the previous one live. If no earlier release has been live, the panel refuses the rollback.
cgctl --wait rollback <site-id>
Go back to a given release
Press Activate on the row of a superseded or rolled back release and confirm. From the API:
curl --unix-socket /run/cloudground/api.sock -X POST \
-H 'Content-Type: application/json' -H 'Authorization: Bearer <token>' \
-d '{"deployment_id": <id>}' http://localhost/api/sites/<site-id>/rollback
A release can be put back online only if it has been live. A release that Safe Push rolled back because it made the site worse can no longer be activated.
The automatic rollback
After a Safe Push, Performance Guard checks production again. If the measured pages answer with a different status or with errors, the panel goes back to the previous release by itself and marks the new one as regressed. If the automatic rollback fails, the release stays live with the note Regressed after its promotion; the automatic rollback failed and an alert in the panel: roll back by hand in that case.
